Hurricane Michael battered many homes in North Carolina and Florida in October, 2018.  Shortly after, we sent a crew out to contribute what we could to the storm restoration needs in the area.  

This photo mosaic shows you the work we did at one of the homes we worked at.  Like many of the homes we worked on, our efforts required us to thoroughly dry the home with an array of equipment, including dehumidifiers, water extractors, water pumps, air movers and HEPA filters.

In many cases, like this home, we had to completely strip the home down to wall studs, tear out carpeting and carpet padding, remove cabinets, flooring etc.

We worked very hard to help these badly damaged homes and anxious families get back on their feet again so they'd feel 'Like it never even happened.'

Air movers:  Another very important piece of equipment that SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/ Brea frequently uses is the air mover.  In this  photo, you can see a number of them.  

An air mover is basically a heavy duty industrial fan that produces high-velocity airflow to promote air circulation and increased evaporation. The result is faster drying time, improved ventilation, and cooling.

Because an air mover increases air circulation, it can be used to dry out carpets, walls, floors, and wall cavities in a minimum amount of time.

The job shown in the photo was from a water damage restoration project in Hacienda Heights where a commercial structure had been damaged following a storm.  In addition to air blowers, we also used dehumidifiers, and built containments.  In some areas, we also need pumps to remove about 3" of standing water.

In this photo, one of our SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/ Brea team members is using a moisture meter.  A moisture meter measures the amount of moisture that has been absorbed into walls, ceilings, etc following water damage.

In this case, this Anaheim Hills home was damaged by rain that fell in January, 2018.
