Fire Damage leads to Water Damage in Laguna Hills Home

12/10/2015 (Permalink)

As a restoration company, we deal with both fire damage and water damage. The two often go hand in hand, as in order to put out a fire, you need water. As the fire spreads, the more water is needed to put it out. Unfortunately, though the fire may be gone, the water soaks into drywall and flooring and requires our services to get it all removed or mold could become an issue—like the trifecta of home ruiners! Thankfully, at SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea, we know exactly how to remove all three. Give us a call if you have one, two or even three of those issues in your home!

A homeowner in Laguna Hills recently had a neighbor that had a fire break out. Thankfully, no one was hurt and the firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, which is the important part. As a consequence, however, the home next to the one with the fire experienced some water damage. The homeowner’s first call had been to their insurance agent, who explained that SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea was by far the best restoration company for the job.

He gave us a call and we immediately dispatched our Project Manager, Jonathan Arcila. Jonathan performed the first inspection and noticed the water damage was affecting just the family room and had yet to spread.  He set up some drying equipment and called our Crew Chief, Antonio Saldana, to come to the home to lead our expert technicians in the removal.

Antonio and our crew got there and immediately got to work. We ended up having to remove some of the flooring, but thanks to the quick response of the homeowner and SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea, we were able to save all the drywall!

The homeowner was eternally grateful for the work we were able to perform on his home. He knew the possibility of the work being worse was so much higher, but because we got to the house so quick, the damage was minimal. He promised to be calling again if he had any further issues!
