Little Holes Create BIG Problems... But SERVPRO Yorba Linda/ Brea Makes You Feel Like It Never Even Happened!

A SERVPRO Yorba Linda/ Brea service tech removes black mold from underneath a customer's sink.

Imagine the excitement one of our customers in Yorba Linda, CA had as he was moving into his new home.  With the inspection contractor’s clean bill of health on his future home, our client proceeded to get his mortgage funded and soon after moved in!  Unfortunately, this particular road to home-ownership bliss had a major pot-hole just around the bend and our client was about to find it.

On moving in, his family discovered a leak under the kitchen sink and, upon completion of testing, they had confirmation.  Black mold.  Not exactly the kind of house warming gift he’d been hoping for! 

SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/ Brea was called in to provide an estimate for mold remediation services.  Our thorough, attention-to-detail follow up confirmed the presence of black mold in several areas throughout the house including the lower cabinets throughout the kitchen, and behind the walls.  Eventually, 80% of the lower kitchen cabinets had to be removed.  Worse, the bathroom on the opposite side of the wall was also positive for black mold.  One bathroom wall also connected with a bedroom closet wall – and more black mold.  Adding to our customer’s troubles, he discovered that his homeowner’s insurance policy did not cover him for black mold related problems.

Instead of day-dreaming of all the fun ways his family could begin living in their new home, our very disappointed customer was having nightmares about the steady rise of all the repair bills! 

Luckily, SERVPRO Yorba Linda/ Brea is dedicated to making our clients feel ‘like it never even happened’. 

We created a workplan that maximized efficiency.  Some of the impacted areas were still wet, and they required water damage restoration.  We built a single containment area that encompassed all impacted areas of the home, installed dehumidifiers and an air scrubber to dry everything out.  Of course, we also completed mold abatement.  Our technicians meticulously wire-brushed and disinfected all impacted areas.  We restored the air quality within the home to EPA standards.

In the end, our swift response, technical expertise, and professionalism made it possible to return our customer to an ‘as good as ever’ state.  We added a little frosting on his cake, too, when we charged him our ‘uninsured’ rates.
