Water Damage Requires a Lot of Equipment

11/2/2015 (Permalink)

In each home with water damage, the situation is different. Sometimes, we can dry a room in place with just the help of a few fans. Other times we go in and do extensive removal work to ensure the home is safe from water damage and potential mold in the future. Either way, the majority of homes require the use of our drying equipment. Depending on the age of the house, sometimes this can take a toll on the home’s electrical system.

A homeowner in Laguna Niguel found this out the hard way. They contacted us after finding water leaking in a few of their rooms. They first called their insurance agent, who recommended SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea as a reliable—and more importantly approved—company. We received the call and immediately sent our Project Manager, Jonathan Arcila, to the home to complete the job. He performed his initial inspection and confirmed SERVPRO would be able to help.

He called his Crew Chief, Jose Melgar, to come out with a team of talented technicians to get to work. As the team set up the equipment for the dry out, unfortunately a couple of the breakers in the home popped! Thankfully, we have a trusted electrician who immediately came out and fixed the problem so the equipment could get up and running again. During that time, the technicians at SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea helped the homeowners get their belongings into separate rooms to protect them from water damage.

As soon as everything was up and running again, we got to work. We removed base cabinets in the kitchen and then up to half of the wood flooring in each affected room.

The homeowners were very pleased with our work. They felt our job was exemplary, and loved that we immediately fixed the electricity problem as soon as it arose. They promised to call again in the future if they needed.
