Pipe Leak Needs Lead and Asbestos Removal

8/27/2015 (Permalink)

When it comes down to it, our homes are filled with things that shouldn’t be there. Oftentimes, we don’t even know that we have any problems with our home until something happens, and then it’s almost a domino effect. Water damage sets off asbestos, asbestos sets off lead and all the sudden you have three problems instead of one. So how do you cope when it feels like your whole house is falling apart? The answer: SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea.

At SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea, we make sure we offer the best services; it’s our job as a restoration company. We recently were contacted by a homeowner in La Habra about a pipe leak between their living room and kitchen. They got our number from their insurance agent, who assured them we would be able to fix the problem—and fast.

As soon as we received the call, we sent out our Project Manager, Uriel Valencia. Uriel made it out to the home almost immediately to perform the initial inspection. Upon viewing the house, he knew asbestos and lead could be an issue if they had to dig into the walls. Either way, he knew SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea would be best for the job. He called our Crew Chief, Waldo Roman, to lead one of our teams in getting the job done.

The team arrived at the home and immediately got to work. We went in and, first and foremost, did an asbestos and lead abatement. This assured that the home and homeowners would be safe when we cut into the walls. From there, we removed some drywall in each of the two rooms. Everything else was able to be dried in place with our air movers and dehumidifiers.

The homeowner was so happy with the work we were able to do. The damage was minimal and, thanks to SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea, so was his stress. He knows now who he’ll be calling next time the water damage affects his home.
