Dining Room Water Damage Affects Crawlspace

6/29/2015 (Permalink)

Water damage can oftentimes be tricky in how it moves and spreads around the home. What can start as a small leak in one room can quickly spread into multiple rooms, or even multiple floors. If not caught soon enough, the damage can even start to create mold. And then what do you have? A wet house that’s starting to make you sick. Catching water damage early is the key to keeping you and your family safe.

For one home in Glendale, the upstairs bathroom had a pipe burst in the wall. The homeowners noticed their hardwood floors were wet in their downstairs dining room, but didn’t know where it was coming from. They called a plumber, who came out and found that the upstairs bathroom was ruining the home. The plumber also found water damage in the ceiling above and the crawlspace below the dining room. He recommended the homeowners call SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea if they wanted the job done properly.

When we received the call, we sent out our Production Manager, Jonathan Arcila to the job. He did an initial inspection and knew SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea would be able to come out and help. He called our Crew Chief, Jose Melgar, to get to the house with his team of technicians. The team got to work immediately.

The first thing they had to do was the water extraction in the crawlspace. From there, they removed the wood floor in the dining room and some of the ceiling above the dining room. Fortunately, everything else was dried in place.

The homeowner was so happy with the work of SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea. He knew that even though the damage was all over the home, SERVPRO made sure he and his family would be safe from mold in the future. He promised us repeat business if he had to deal with a similar situation in the future!
