Yorba Linda Toilet Overflow Ruins Four Rooms

3/30/2015 (Permalink)

Poor plumbing is the unfortunate cause of so many of our clients’ troubles. Whether a busted pipe in the wall, a broken water heater, or a toilet, plumbing leaks can lead to extensive water and flood damage around the house. If you are lucky enough to catch it in time, the damage can be easy to contain, but unfortunately that is usually not the case.

When one Yorba Linda homeowner’s toilet started overflowing, they did not notice until it had spread to four rooms in the home. Thankfully it was not sewage, just water, but it still caused extensive damage.

When he got home from work that evening and noticed the water damage, he immediately searched for the best water damage removal companies in the area. As soon as he saw SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea was the best in the business, he gave us a call.

Though it was after hours on a Tuesday night, we still made it out there that same day. The flood had extended from the bathroom all the way to the dining room and kitchen on the floor below the bathroom as well as the bedroom and closet on the top floor.

Our Production Manager, Cesar Arcila, and Technician, Waldo Roman, worked diligently to remove the ceiling and drywall in the dining room and kitchen as well as the drywall, tile, and plywood in the bathroom. In the bedroom, we had to remove the plywood subfloor as well as some drywall in both the bedroom and closet.

We put some air movers and dehumidifiers in all the rooms to ensure there would be no mold growth as a result of the water damage.

The homeowner was so happy we were able to get in and quickly remove the damage, even though it was so extensive. He assured us he would be calling again if any more poor plumbing led to leaks.
