Construction Workers Break Pipe in Yorba Linda Home

Remodeling and in-home construction is always exciting. It means a new look for your home and making your dream room into a reality. But what happens when there’s a snag in the construction process? A family in Yorba Linda had to halt all construction when a worker accidentally hit a pipe that leaked water all over the home. 

The burst pipe ended up flooding the living room, a bedroom and a bathroom, the hallway, the laundry room, and the closet. Initially, the construction crew thought it would be an easy clean up and paid to have the carpets cleaned. Unfortunately, the problem ran much deeper.

When the carpet cleaners realized how bad the damage was, they recommended the family call SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea to remove the water damage. They called us around one in the afternoon and we had our first responder, Chris Trejo, at the house before three. 

His initial inspection proved that not only was the water damage severe, but there was asbestos in the vinyl under the carpet. When we realized that, we knew both the carpet and the vinyl would have to be carefully removed and the asbestos would have to be contained. Some of the drywall was affected and had to be removed as well.

The homeowner, though upset with the construction company, was thankful for the thorough work of SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea. She remained in constant contact with us throughout the process, and even trusted us enough to leave the side door unlocked so we could come in and work, as long as we sent her a quick text first.
