Busted Water Heater affects Two Floors in Anaheim Home

3/17/2015 (Permalink)

Water heaters are imperative for a happy daily life in your home. They give water for hot showers, help run the dishwasher, and keep your clothes clean. For an Anaheim home, their broken water heater did not just impact the hygiene of their lives, but it also ruined rooms on two floors.

When this homeowner came home to a room filled with water, it was clear the leak came from the ceiling. As soon as he went upstairs, he saw the water heater was damaged and leaking onto the floor, which was in turn leaking through the ceiling and damaging the room underneath.

They turned off their water and called a repairman. The repairman told the homeowners that he could not completely fix the hot water heater until the water damage had been fixed, and gave him the number for SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea.

The call came in early on a weekday morning, and we were able to make it out to the home that same day. Our first responder and Crew Chief, Joe Valencia arrived at the property first and took notes on the damage. He noticed the family room, hallway, and closet were all affected by the broken water heater.

We had to remove some of the wood floors in the family room and some drywall, but fortunately the water heater did not cause as much damage as we originally thought. Though there was significant damage in the ceiling and on the floors, we salvaged everything we could and only removed what was absolutely necessary.

Though the homeowner did not have any specific requests, we did what we could to keep the demolition to a minimum. The homeowner saw this, and absolutely appreciated how hard we worked to keep his home in one piece. He was happy with how quickly and efficiently we were able to work on his home.
