A Backyard Flood Leads to Mold in a Yorba Linda, CA Home

2/18/2015 (Permalink)

A homeowner in Yorba Linda, CA accidentally left her sprinklers on in the backyard for too long and the backyard began to flood. The water flowed towards the house and began seeping into one of the bedrooms. It soaked the carpeting and caused some water damage at the base of the wall. The homeowner tried to sop up the water with towels and did her best to dry out the carpet. Then, a few months later, she noticed a musty smell in the bedroom. She could not think of what it could be at first, but then a friend suggested it could be mold from the small flood. Worried about mold in her home, she called the professional mold clean up experts at SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea.

We sent out our Production Manager, Jonathan Arcila, to the home to take a look at the water damage and inspect for mold. Jonathan discovered that mold was indeed growing under the carpet and mold clean up was necessary. He called out our Crew Chief, Jose Melgar, to the home along with his team of experts to begin the mold clean up.

The team worked quickly to remove all the mold from the bedroom and then set up dehumidifiers and air scrubbers to remove any remaining mold spores from the home. The team wanted to be sure that there were no spores in the air or on the floor that could potentially lead to more growth.

Once the project was complete, the homeowner could not believe how efficient we were and how professional our team was. She was grateful we were able to come out and completely remove the mold even though it had been so long since the flooding occurred. She was thankful that we were able to keep her family safe by removing all of the mold and getting her home back to its normal, healthy condition.
