An Old Flood Causes Mold in a Yorba Linda, CA Home

A particular home in Yorba Linda, CA with hardwood floors was affected by a small flood a few months prior. The flood had been cleaned by the homeowner, but they had not called a professional for the water removal. One morning, the owner of the home noticed that there was a musty and stale smell. He was not sure where the smell was coming from, but he knew there was a possibility of mold because of the flood. He couldn’t see any mold though, so he thought it would be best to call the professional mold removal experts at SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea to take a look. 

We sent our Production Manager, Jonathan Arcila, to investigate the smell. He looked around the building for some time to figure out what was causing the odor, and he soon realized that mold had been growing in some of the cracks in the hardwood floor and the water had wicked up the walls along the perimeter. Because the homeowner did not originally hire professionals to remove the water, some was missed and caused mold.

Because of the health threats mold poses, we wanted to take care of the situation as soon as possible. Jonathan called our Crew Chief, Jose Melgar, to come to the home with his team of mold removal experts. They began the mold removal process right away. They worked quickly and efficiently to remove the threat of mold from the home and to ensure the people living in the home would not have to move out. Once the mold was removed, the team set up air scrubbers and dehumidifiers to remove any remaining mold spores from the air and any extra moisture. 

Thanks to SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea, the mold removal was a success. The job was completed in just a few days and the homeowner was very thankful for our hard work and timely completion of the project.
