An Outdated Water Heater Causes Water Damage to a Brea Home

While working in his garage, a Brea, CA homeowner noticed a water spot on the wall behind his water heater.  He decided to take a better look to see what was going on.  As he examined the area, he realized that his water heater was leaking.  He was able to fix the leak himself, but thought it best to call the professionals at SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea to examine the water damage that had occurred.  

We immediately sent our Production Manager, Jonathan Arcila, to the property to determine the extent of water restoration that would be required.  Following his investigation, he determined that water damage had definitely occurred.  He then removed a small section of drywall to determine the damage behind the wall, and he found mold.  The presence of mold is a health hazard and can cause allergy-like symptoms and other respiratory issues.  The customer was concerned about the health of his family, but we assured him we could take care of the problem and get his home back to its normal, healthy state.  

We then sent Jose Melgar, our Crew Chief, and his team of experienced technicians to the home to begin water restoration.  They immediately set up air scrubbers to remove any mold spores from the air. In addition, they set up dehumidifiers to help dry up the excess water that was creating the perfect living conditions for the mold.  

We were able to complete the water restoration and mold remediation to promptly rid the home of mold.  Because this home had both types of damage, it was necessary to perform both services. The customer was extremely pleased with our timeliness and impressed with the quality of our work.  The level of service and professionalism we offered the homeowner stuck with him, and he said he would be happy to recommend us to all of his friends and family if they ever needed a water restoration company.
