A Burst Pipe Requires Water Restoration in a Yorba Linda, CA Home

10/28/2014 (Permalink)

When a Yorba Linda, CA resident moved in to the new home he had just rented, he noticed that there was a water leak in the upstairs bathroom.  The water was seeping down through a light fixture and onto the living room ceiling.  He called his landlord right away to have the situation looked at.

The landlord immediately called a plumber, who was able to determine that the burst pipe was behind the shower. When the plumber removed part of the tile and drywall to fix the leak, he thought there might also be mold growing. He recommended that the landlord call SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea, a water damage company, and have us come out and assess the damage.  Our Production Manager, Jonathan Arcila, arrived at the property the same day and was able to determine that mold had, in fact, begun to grow.  Because of the severity of the damage, we began the water restoration and mold removal process immediately.

Our Crew Chief, Cesar Arcila, oversaw the water restoration and mold remediation and assured the tenant that we would completely remove all of the water and mold in the home to make sure it was a safe place to live.  He kept the tenant in the loop about everything that was going on in the home so that he was informed and comfortable with our work.

The growth of mold behind the shower wall did not surprise us at all. Mold thrives in dark, warm, damp places. We were sure to be thorough in our mold remediation process because it can cause serious health problems.  To get rid of all of the mold spores, an air scrubber was set up upstairs and downstairs. We also set up dehumidifiers to lower the moisture in the air, which helps stop the spread of the mold spores. The water restoration and mold damage work was completed quickly, and both the tenant and the landlord were very happy.  The tenant was happy to be in his new home in a safe environment that was free of mold and water damage.
