SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea Saves Multiple Homes From Slab Leak Water Damage

8/15/2016 (Permalink)

At SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea, we have dealt with all types of water damage. Whether its source is a pipe burst in the master bathroom or a supply line leak in the kitchen, our team has seen it all. However, recently we have noticed one source of water damage that tends to be a reoccurring issue in lots of homes: slab leaks.

Slab leaks typically occur when there is a leak in your plumbing system that is located specifically in or under the foundation of your home. In order to resolve the damage caused by a slab leak, it is best to call a professional water damage company like SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea. With our wide variety and range of experience, our team is equipped to handle any and all forms of water damage.

As mentioned earlier, our team has recently worked on several different homes facing water damage caused by a slab leak. Here are a few of our clients’ slab leak water damage stories.

The Homeowner Who Didn’t Think She Needed Our Help

Our team recently finished up a water damage removal project in Placentia. The homeowner had a slab leak in her home, but did not think that she needed a professional’s help to remove the damage. Because of this, the damage continued to spread throughout the home. Eventually, her insurance adjuster told her that she definitely needed to call a professional water damage company to remove the damage – they suggested SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea.

As soon as we received the homeowner’s call, we immediately sent our Project Manager, Uriel Valencia, out to inspect the home’s damage. The slab leak ended up reaching nine areas of the home including: a bedroom and closet, the hallway and hall closet, the kitchen, living room, family room dining room and laundry room. After his inspection, Uriel asked Crew Chief, Irineo Chavez, to come to the home and help create a remediation plan for the water damage.

Once the plan was set up, our talented team of technicians went to work. Every area except the hall closet needed some of its drywall removed. Once that was done, our team removed the wood flooring from the bedroom and closet, hallway, kitchen, living room, family room and dining room. Finally, the carpet in the hall closet and some damaged cabinets in the kitchen were removed from the home. To make sure that everything was completely dry, we set up a total of 18 air movers and three dehumidifiers around the house.

In the end, the homeowner was very pleased with our work. They especially appreciated how well we were able to work around their requests. There was an elderly family member who was bed ridden in a medical bed while our team was completing our work. Because of this, we made sure to be as respectful as possible of their space. The homeowner was so happy with our work that she said she would definitely call us again if water damage ever became an issue in the future. We were happy to help!

The Homeowner Who Knew Exactly Who to Call for Water Damage

Most homeowners who have never dealt with water damage before call us at SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea very frantic and stressed out. That’s because they feel like their home will forever be ruined. However, when one of our former customers gives us a call about a new water damage issue, they tend to be a lot calmer. Why? Because they know that we at SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea will be able to put their home back together in no time at all.

Recently a homeowner in Yorba Linda detected a slab leak under their stairs. Having been a previous customer of SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea, they knew exactly who to call to remediate the damage.

As soon as we received their call, Project Manager, Uriel Valencia, was on his way to perform an initial inspection of the home. The slab leak had affected the kitchen as well as the storage closet located under the stairs. After taking a look around, Uriel knew that this was the perfect job for SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea to handle, so he called Crew Chief, Martin Hernandez, and the rest of our team to come out and start the cleanup process.

Once our team arrived, we packed out the kitchen and pantry. We then removed the kitchen’s damaged toe kicks, baseboards and the appliances that were in the way of some damaged drywall. Once the appliances were out of the way, we removed the affected drywall as well. The homeowner requested that we save the removed baseboards, so we made sure to put those aside for them. In the closet under the stairs, we only had to remove the damaged drywall and dry the carpet in place. To make sure that the home was completely free of any water damage, we set up two air movers and one dehumidifier in the affected areas.

The homeowner was so happy with how efficient and thorough we were throughout the remediation process. They also appreciated that we listened to their request concerning the removed baseboards. Having been their second time using SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea, they knew that they could count on us to get the job done.
