Leaking Kitchen Sink Causes Chaos in Fullerton Home

A slow leak under your kitchen sink can go unnoticed for days or even weeks, causing a lot of water damage to your home. A homeowner in Fullerton recently had this experience. She was an elderly woman who lived on her own and had been in a rehab facility recovering from a recent illness. When she returned home, she discovered that the water supply to her kitchen sink was leaking and had already created a lot of visible water damage. She knew right away that she needed a water damage professional, so she called SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea.

When the call came in, we sent out Project Manager, Uriel Valencia, to do an inspection. As he checked the areas around the sink, he discovered the moisture was soaking through the wall and into the family room and dining room. This little leak had caused a lot of water damage to her home.

Uriel knew he would need to handle this gently and properly, so he quickly called out Crew Chief, Saul Macias, to give him a hand.  Since the water had been leaking for so long, everything was pretty saturated. We had to remove the kitchen drywall, cabinets, counter tops and backsplash. This meant that we also had to do a complete pack out of the kitchen’s contents. We then moved into the family room and dining room, where the carpeting was too wet to save, so that was removed as well. Two dehumidifiers and six air movers were placed to get everything dried out as quickly as possible.

Typically in a situation like this, we would recommend relocating the homeowner.  Since this homeowner had just returned from rehab, she was adamant about staying in her home.  We were happy to work around her needs and did everything we could to make the process run as smoothly as possible for her.

Our sweet homeowner was so happy with our team and our ability to accommodate all of her needs.
