Two-Story Flood Means Water Damage in Yorba Linda

3/9/2016 (Permalink)

Multiple-story homes get dangerous when it comes to dealing with water damage. The main issue is that if a pipe leaks upstairs, the chances are high that it will leak through the floor and onto the ceiling of the rooms below, potentially damaging twice as many rooms as it would in a single-story home. At SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea, we understand the urgency of coming out to a home as soon as a call comes through. That’s why we are available to come out to your home 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to stop the water damage before it spreads.

But sometimes we are not so lucky to receive the call in time to stop the damage before it spreads to other areas of the home. This is what happened recently with a Yorba Linda home. The homeowners had their upstairs toilet overflow and flood almost the entire upstairs. The damage had already started leaking to the downstairs as well, so they knew they had to act fast. Having seen our vans all around the area, the homeowners called SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea for help.

We immediately dispatched our Project manager, Cesar Arcila, to the home. His inspection showed that the upstairs bathroom, the stairs to the downstairs and the downstairs kitchen, hallway, bathroom, office and laundry room had also all been affected. He knew it would be a job SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea could handle, so as soon as he got the okay from the homeowner, he called our Crew Chief and team of technicians to come start the work.

We ended up removing the laminate flooring in the kitchen and hallway bathroom, carpet on the stairs, laminate and baseboards in the laundry room and baseboards in the originating bathroom. Thankfully, we were able to save the entirety of the drywall and carpet in the living room and office. To finish off the job, we set up our drying equipment to ensure that everything dried properly.

The homeowner was thrilled with our work. He knew the damage was severe, but the fact that we were able to save anything at all made him so happy. He gave us a great score on our final survey and promised to tell all his friends about our services!
