Water Heater Causes Water Damage throughout Home

Without a water heater, you end up with only cold water in your home. It seems like an obvious statement, but you never realize how much hot water you use until it’s gone. No warm water while washing your hands, no hot showers, no dishwashing, no laundry. More than that, when it breaks and leaks, you then have water damage to deal with on top of everything else. Sometimes it’s just easier to call a water damage company like SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea to get the problem taken care of.

A homeowner in Placentia called us recently with a request to help him clean up the leak from his water heater. He had noticed the living room had wet carpet and could tell it was spreading fast, so he had called his insurance agent to get a good referral. His insurance agent had recommended calling SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea, as we had a great reputation and were on the list of trusted vendors. 

As soon as the call came in, our Project Manager, Uriel Valencia, went to the home to take a look at the damage. He found that the water heater had leaked from the garage to the living room, hallway and laundry room. But no job is ever too big for SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea, so Uriel called our Crew Chief, Jose Melgar, to the home to lead our technicians in the removal process. Until they got there, Uriel set up some drying equipment to get the process started.

Our technicians arrived and immediately got to work. They ended up removing some drywall in the hallway, but thankfully due to our high-powered equipment, we were able to save all the tile in all three rooms. At the end, we set up some more equipment, this time including dehumidifiers and air movers, to ensure there was no further damage or threat of mold.

The homeowner was so happy with our work! He loved that the removal was minimal and told us he would absolutely be using our services again in the future if needed.
