SERVPRO Saves Home from Water Damage after Slab Leak

1/12/2016 (Permalink)

Slab leaks are so hard on houses. They start slow and beneath the house, so the leak isn’t always immediately apparent. It only becomes apparent after the damage has been done to your floors, your drywall, your furniture and other parts of your house. No matter how severe the leak, you should always have a professional water damage company out to the home to ensure that everything is dried out as completely as possible. Promptness is key, as the longer you wait, the more likely it is that mold can grow and start to endanger you and your family.

A homeowner in Yorba Linda took this to heart when she noticed a leak coming up through her floors. She knew she would need a professional’s help in removing all of it, but was unsure where to turn. She called her insurance adjuster, looking for some answers. Her insurance adjuster recommended SERVPRO, so she gave a call to our main call center. The call center then forwarded the call to us at SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea, as we were the closest.

As soon as the call came in, we called our Project Manager, Uriel Valencia, to the scene to take a look. He found that there was a slab leak affecting the kitchen, hallway bathroom and closet. He knew it would be the perfect job for SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea. Unfortunately, the homeowner wanted to wait a few days to schedule the appointment because of her busy schedule.

In meantime, we set up some drying equipment to start the drying. If we didn’t do that, the chances of mold being a factor were high. Thankfully, she found time in her schedule to fit us in two days from our original inspection date.

Uriel then called our Crew Chief and technicians out to the scene to get the work completed promptly. Our technicians came in and set up some more equipment to dry everything in place. Thanks in large part to the proactive stance of SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea, the entire drywall and flooring were able to be saved and dried in place.

The homeowner was so happy! She knew the damage could have been so much worse. She promised to give us a call if she needed any other water damage help in the future.
