Accidental Kitchen Fire in Yorba Linda

Robert Benko – Fire Damage
As the homeowner was enjoying their day, they accidentally left their stove on with some oil on the pan which led to a small kitchen fire. Although it was a small fire the damage was still tough to deal with. It left a stench of heavy smoke within the home especially in the kitchen area. Since the fire was stopped fairly quickly it wasn’t able to spread throughout the home which only left the stove and range hood damaged, and it left the cabinets smelling like smoke.
Since it wasn’t too much damage our SERVPRO team just went into the home to remove the damage stove hood and give the house a deep clean to get rid of the smell of smoke. This deep cleaned included the cabinets, walls, ceilings, floors and even led to the cleaning of the ac unit and air ducts just in case the smell got anywhere throughout the house. The owner was relieved to see that only a small portion of the house was damaged but was worried about the smell sticking around.
Since smoke can smell pretty bad and has such a strong odor our team took the necessary steps to help get rid of the smell throughout the house so the owner could live comfortable once again. Our team used an air scrubber to help contain and clean the air using a HEPA filter, with primary and secondary filters, which the second filter included a carbon filter to capture most of the smoke particles lingering around. This air scrubber helped with the odor of the smoke. We also used a thermal fog, a deodorizer to help neutralize the smell of the smoke. Within a week of the event taking place and the work provided by our team the smell of the smoke was completely gone and the house smelled clean and fresh again.
