One Leaking Pipe and Two Homes with Water Damage
Recently, SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea received a call from a very anxious home owner in Dana Point. A leaking pipe in the common wall shared by two next door condo owners led to water damage in both properties and an opportunity for SERVPRO Yorba Linda to demonstrate our expertise.
Our restoration process required us to bring in a dozen pieces of equipment, including air dryers, air movers, dehumidifiers and air scrubbers. We also had to demo drywall up four feet from the floor to expose the studs. Since the water damage had occurred over a weekend when both property owners were out of town, there had been sufficient time for black mold to grow. This meant we had both water damage and a bio-hazard.
To contain the black mold, we built containment systems in both units that prevented the mold spores from spreading into non-contaminated areas of each condo. With the containments in place, we used special chemicals to completely remove the black mold.
All wet and contaminated debris was disposed of in goose-necked bags and transported to a land-fill site.
Its because of thorough, expert work like this that our customers can soon resume their lives 'Like it never even happened'.
