A Home Is More than Just a House: SERVPRO Yorba Linda/ Brea Water Damage Restoration Helped Save One Family’s Memories.

Meet Edgar Orozco. He's just one of the heroes at SERVPRO Yorba Linda/ Brea. He recently helped Mrs. Lincoln save her most precious memories.

Mrs. Lincoln was beside herself.  Her home in Norwalk, CA, where she’d lived all her life, had just experienced water damage.  This is a difficult situation for anyone.  But when the home you’ve lived out all your eighty-seven years in, when it’s the home your parents first purchased in 1910, so much more is at stake!

Good thing that her insurance adjuster sent her to SERVPRO Yorba Linda/ Brea.  We’ve been helping customers for over fifteen years with water damage restoration, fire damage restoration, mold remediation and much more.  We also work with commercial clients when these disasters impact their businesses.

This was more than a home.  This was a museum and a testament to her family.  Souvenirs of a lifetime lay everywhere.  Every corner of that home held a story and a special memory for Mrs. Lincoln.

Our first step was to moisture map the entire home.  We discovered that 100% of the walls in her home were wet.  So were the kitchen cabinets.  In normal circumstances, our protocol would be to remove the drywall from the floor and up about two to four feet.  In this case, however, Mrs. Lincoln wanted to keep the house as original as possible.  So, we had to dry the entire house ‘in place’, which was very difficult and took about four weeks.

To make things a bit more interesting, her museum house had a museum electrical system, too.  So we wouldn’t overload her breaker box, we installed a spider box and carefully dried each room with just the minimum amount of electrical load.  Eventually, we fully restored her home.
