Self-Pay Turns to Insurance Claim for Water Damage

Sometimes water damage is minor and it isn’t a big deal to pay for it out of pocket. In fact, if it’s cheap enough, paying out of pocket could help you save money in the long run. When you file a claim, sometimes your insurance rates will go up. When you self-pay, SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea works with you to make sure you receive an affordable price. However, that said, other times the water damage is severe enough that you have no other choice but to file a claim. When this happens, we work with the insurance company to get as much of your work covered as possible.

Recently, a homeowner in Mission Viejo contacted us after their plumber found a slab leak underneath their floors. They noticed the wood flooring was buckling in their family room and called their usual plumber. He came out and diagnosed the leak and then recommended they call SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea to take care of the water damage professionally. 

We received the call and immediately sent our Project Manager, Uriel Valencia, to the home. He performed an initial inspection and gave the homeowner the bad news: the damage was much more extensive than the homeowner thought and he might want to consider making a claim. The homeowner agreed and we brought our technicians to the scene.

The technicians got to work immediately, removing wood flooring and drywall in the family room, office and kitchen. From there, we set up some drying equipment to make sure everything was thoroughly dried so there would be no threat of mold. 

Though initially upset about the fact that he would have to file an insurance claim, the homeowner was ultimately glad he did. We worked with the insurance company to make sure his work was as covered as possible. Because of that and our work, the homeowner was so happy with his experience. He knew he would be calling SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea again if he had another water damage disaster in his home.
