Slab Leak Means Flood Damage Restoration

10/5/2015 (Permalink)

When a home experiences a slab leak, it means a pipe in the foundation or under the house broke and is leaking water up through the floors. More often than not, slab leaks go undetected until they have spread to multiple rooms and wreaked havoc on the home. By that point, professionals are needed. That’s why SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea is focused on removing all the damage and, more than that, focusing on preventing mold growth in the future. Time is of the essence when it comes to water damage.

One homeowner in Mission Viejo called us after she noticed some of the floors in her home were saturated with water. Her first call had been to a plumber who figured it was a slab leak, but because of that he knew she would need a flood damage restoration company to come in and remove all the damage. He recommended she call SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea.

As soon as the call came in, we dispatched our Project Manager, Jonathan Arcila, to the home. He performed the initial inspection and found water in the garage, bedroom, bathroom, closet, hallways and laundry room. He knew he would need help from our incredible technicians to get everything removed.

Our technicians came out and started the job, but after just a short time of working on the removal found an abundance of mold in the walls from the water damage. Thankfully, we specialize in mold remediation as well. We went in and removed drywall in every room except the garage and then sanded the studs that were affected by the mold so they could be properly dried out.

The homeowner was so happy with the work we performed in her home. She loved that we cared enough about her home to remove all the mold damage and ensure the safety of her and her family. She promised to give us a call again if the situation arose!
