Insurance Company Doesn’t Cover Laundry Room Leak

When it comes to water damage, we always cross our fingers for our clients that their insurance will help pay for whatever damage was done to their home. It makes it easier for us as a restoration company, but more than that we don’t want to see our clients suffering as they try and pay for water damage that was an accident. That’s why, when we have clients that choose to self-pay, we always work with them so they receive the best deal possible.

One homeowner in Brea had a valve in their laundry room break, flooding that room as well as the adjacent bedroom. The homeowner noticed it when they went to move a load of laundry into the dryer, and knew he needed to call someone as soon as possible. He called his plumber, who came out and fixed the pipe, but recommended they call a restoration company.

The homeowner did a quick internet search to see who the best water damage company was in the area, and found that SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea was by far the best company for water damage. He reached out to our call center and we were out there immediately.

He wanted to file an insurance claim, and told us so when his Production Manager, Chris Trejo, made it out to the home, so that’s how we started the job. But as we got further into the investigation, the insurance adjuster informed the homeowner that they would not be covering any of the damages. The homeowner knew he would have to self-pay.

We got to work and removed the vinyl in the laundry room as well as half the carpet in the bedroom. We also had to remove up to four feet of drywall in both rooms. Knowing he was paying out of pocket, we worked with him to make sure it was a fair and affordable price for the homeowner.

He was so happy with all the work we were able to do for him. He especially loved that we gave him a low quote since he was self-paying! He thanked us for all our hard work and assured us we had just made a lifetime customer.
