Mold and Water Damage in Hacienda Heights Home

6/26/2015 (Permalink)

As if having to deal with water damage isn’t enough, it is always tough when mold accompanies it. When any water damage is left untreated or is not removed by professionals, the chance of mold growth always skyrockets. And with mold always comes the danger of illness with the homeowners or whoever is living with the mold. It seems like a terrible chain reaction! At SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea, we do everything we can to stop that chain before it gets worse.

One homeowner in Hacienda Heights had to deal with a supply line break from their refrigerator. They came home from work one day and saw that the flooring in their kitchen was soaking wet, but didn’t know exactly where it was coming from. They called a plumber, who was able to come out and fix the problem, but recommended that the homeowners call a professional remediation company to remove the water damage properly.

The homeowners called their insurance adjuster, who recommended SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea from their list of recommended vendors. They gave us a call and we were out within a matter of a couple hours.

The Production manager, Cesar Arcila, was the first on the scene. He found that the kitchen was not the only room affected. The laundry room, pantry, and dining room also had water damage from the leak. Additionally, his inspection revealed that there was mold in the walls from the leak as well. He set up some initial drying equipment to make sure the water damage was contained and did not spread any further.

From there, he called out his team of technicians to come out and make sure the home was taken care of. The team came out and was able to save all the flooring, but unfortunately because of the mold in the walls, they had to remove two feet of drywall in all the rooms to ensure the safety of the homeowner.

Though the damage was more severe than the homeowner initially thought, he was glad he had called SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea and that we were able to find the mold in the walls. He promised to call again if necessary!
