Fountain Valley Toilet Flange Floods Bathroom

3/26/2015 (Permalink)

Toilets are tricky. The plumbing is constantly tested, as it is one of the most consistently used appliances in the home. One little break not only shorts the home a bathroom, but can damage multiple rooms with water flooding.

One homeowner’s toilet failed when the toilet flange started leaking onto the hardwood. Immediately they called a plumber out to the home. He worked on fixing the toilet, but then recommended they look into hiring SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea to fix the flood damage.

The homeowner called around noon, and we had our Production Manager, Jonathan Arcila, out within the same hour. He checked the flood damage in the bathroom and noticed some of the wood floors had started buckling, which could be a sign of old water damage and mold.

Since the homeowner did not want to go through his insurance, we worked with him and provided a great self-pay quote for the removal we would have to perform. With his okay, we got to work.

We had to remove a large amount of flooring due to the buckling. We wanted to prevent any chance the mold would spread. The flood damage also extended to the baseboards and drywall, which also required some removal. As soon as we had all the damaged areas removed, we set up fans, air movers, and dehumidifiers to get rid of any traces of water or potential for mold growth.

Because of our quick response, we were able to keep the extensive damage from getting any worse. We worked diligently to ensure the family would get their bathroom back as quickly as possible, and they definitely noticed. They gave us 10s across the board on how efficient and quick we were with all the damage that had been done. The homeowner is pleased they do not have any more mold to worry about as well!
