Mysterious Leak in Yorba Linda Leads to Water Damage

3/17/2015 (Permalink)

Discovering leaks in a home can be stressful in any situation, but coming home and being unable to immediately identify the source of the leak is even worse. One homeowner in Yorba Linda had to deal with this exact situation a couple weeks ago when she came home and found a half-inch of water standing in four of her rooms.

She turned off her running water and then called a plumber to identify the source. A short investigation uncovered that she had a very bad slab leak. The water had risen in her kitchen, dining room, family room and formal dining room. Because the damage was extensive, the plumber recommended the homeowner give SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea a call.

She called on a Friday morning and we were out for inspection quickly. Our first responders, Cesar Arcila and Pedro Llanes, made it to the property within a few hours. The examination proved that not only would there have to be water extraction, but there would be quite a bit of demolition in the home as well.

Our Crew Chief, Chris Trejo, headed to the property with our amazing professionals to start immediately. After the initial water extraction, we had to remove some drywall in each of the rooms. Thankfully, we were able to save the carpet in every room except a small area in the living room that could not be saved.

We set up a huge number of air movers around the home to make sure the water was completely removed before the family moved back. We wanted to do everything we could to avoid the possibility of mold in the future!

After the process was completed, the homeowner gave our work 10s across the board. Additionally, she commented on how easy we were to work with! Though she hopes it never happens again, she will be using the services of SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea in the future if necessary.
