Two Pipe Leaks Cause Headache for Yorba Linda Homeowner

As if one pipe leak in your home doesn’t cause enough hassle, having to deal with two pipe leaks can be twice as miserable. For one Yorba Linda homeowner, it felt like her home was falling apart when she had not one, but two leaks to deal with.

She first noticed a big area of her ceiling and drywall bubbling and peeling in her dining room on a Sunday night. Even though it was after hours, she knew she needed to call SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea to resolve the problem. 

We sent out our Crew Chief Jose Melgar after hours to investigate the damage. When he saw the wall and ceiling were soft to the touch due to an overhead pipe leak, he knew there would be a serious amount of necessary demolition to fix the water damage. We worked to remove the drywall and ceiling, but just as we placed the fans to dry the home, the homeowner found a second leak.

Behind her refrigerator, a pipe had burst, leaking water all over her kitchen floor. At this point, we sent out Production Manager Edgar Orozco to check out the damage. We called a refrigerator removal company to get it out of the way and had to remove the hardwood flooring around the leak as well as part of the baseboards and flooring in the pantry.

Thankfully, we still had all our fans in the home! As soon as the demo was done and the dining room was dry, we moved the fans into the kitchen to dry the floor around the fridge.

Though the homeowner was understandably frustrated with the number of leaks in her house, she said the team at SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea worked so hard to get her water damage removed. She commented that our SERVPRO was “clear, prompt, and friendly” and she would definitely call us again if the need were to arise!
