Laguna Niguel Slab Leak Causes Serious Destruction

Water damage can easily affect more than one part of the house, but when it affects an entire floor, it can displace your family and be a massive inconvenience. For one Laguna Niguel homeowner, the slab leak in her home damaged her family room, dining room, living room and kitchen. 

It seemed like just one small leak. The homeowner called the plumber after business hours on a Saturday, who told her he would not be able to make it out to her property until Monday. Knowing the situation could be dire, he told her to call SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea, who would definitely have an after-hours crew available to send to the home.

When Crew Chief Jose Melgar reached the property that same day, he knew the situation was bad. Though he immediately turned the water off, it didn’t change the fact that the hardwood in the downstairs rooms was affected and the damage was severe. We had to remove all the hardwood in all of the rooms as well as portions of the drywall and cabinets. However, we worked hard and were able to save all the counter faces and counter tops. 

Since the homeowner and her family had to move out, she made sure to set up SERVPRO with a lockbox so they could come in and remove the problem areas as soon as possible. Since she was a teacher, she knew her schedule would be difficult to work around and she trusted us to work quickly to get the job done.

By the end of the project, she was on a first-name basis with Jose and whenever she needed something, she called him directly. She was so happy with how “on top of it” he was, and how quickly we were able to remove the water damage. Though there was so much damage, she was very pleased with the work of SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea.
