Mold Remediation in Brea due to a Condensation Line Leak

The presence of moisture for an extended period of time can lead to mold growth.  And if enough time has passed, the mold can begin to spread.  This is exactly what happened to a Brea, CA homeowner, and SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea, a mold remediation company, was available to come in and resolve the situation quickly.

When this customer’s master bathroom was being built, the contractor left her HVAC condensation line to drain under the bathroom sink.  This meant that every time the customer turned on her HVAC unit, the condensation line would leak water into her cabinet and onto the wall.  The leak went unnoticed for months until finally the family noticed that some of their baseboards were warped and pulling away from the wall in the family room.  In addition, a musty odor was present near the warped baseboards. 

The odor concerned the homeowner, who believed there could be mold growing due to the leak.  Visible mold was discovered behind her kitchen cabinets and was also present in the bathroom and family room.  The homeowner was told by her plumber that the leak had originated under the sink in the bathroom and a mold mitigation was necessary due to the extent.  Mold can cause health effects of anyone breathing in the spores, so it is important a mold remediation is performed timely.  To protect her family, the homeowner then called SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea to perform the mold remediation. 

The water damage in the family room was of great concern to the customer because she had expensive hardwood flooring that was affected by the leak.  SERVPRO water damage professionals were able to completely dry out the affected floorboards and save the customer thousands of dollars in replacement costs.  Our Crew Chief, Cesar Arcila, was also able to protect the rest of the unaffected wood flooring to prevent any damages.  The customer was extremely appreciative of Cesar going above and beyond caring for the protection of her flooring.

Our customer was appreciative of SERVPRO’s ability to isolate the affected areas of her home while performing the mold removal because it prohibited the spread of the mold and also allowed her family to remain in their home while the mold mitigation was taking place.  Our Production Manager, Jonathan, ensured her home was safe to be in and guaranteed our professional mold removal crew could contain the affected areas.  The customer was extremely pleased with our work and our ability to keep the unaffected areas of her home, well, unaffected!
