Mold Remediation due to a Water Heater Leak in a Brea Garage

Often times, water leaks go unnoticed for quite some time because they are in areas we cannot see.  We often may not notice the leak until extensive water damage has occurred and mold has been able to grow.  This is especially true in low traffic areas.  SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea, a mold remediation company, understands this happens, which is why our crews become instant heroes when they respond at nights and on weekends to help our worried customers.  For instance, a recent customer did not notice a leak in the water heater closet in her garage for several weeks because the leak was well hidden and out of sight.  Unfortunately, by the time she discovered the leak, there was visible brown water staining and mold on the drywall behind the water heater. 

The customer immediately contacted SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea to perform mold remediation in her garage.  She spoke with SERVPRO representative, Jonathan Arcila, and told him that she was very allergic to mold and needed the mold cleanup begun right away.  She was concerned for her health and did not want the mold to travel from the garage into her house.  Mold is a health hazard for everyone, but when a customer has a known allergy it is particularly important to perform the mold mitigation as soon as possible to ensure respiratory issues do not occur.

Cesar Arcila, a SERVPRO mold mitigation professional was designated to perform the mold remediation for our valued customer.  He quickly contained the affected area to give the customer peace of mind that the mold contamination would not travel into her home.  He then set up an air scrubber to bring the air quality back to a healthy and breathable state, just as it was before the leak.  Cesar kept the customer informed during the entire mold mitigation process to make sure she felt comfortable with all of the work being done.  Before long, the crew had completely disinfected the mold contaminated area and had restored the customer’s garage to a healthy, breathable environment. 

Our customer felt at ease throughout the entire mold remediation process because of the openness and professional work performed by Cesar and his crew.  Upon the completion of the mold cleanup, she was confident thankful that we restored her peace of mind.
