Mold growth and slab leak flood in Brea

A leak in your home needs to be taken care of immediately to eliminate the potential for mold growth.  Often, we do not think of mold growing in our homes unless we see it.  For a Brea homeowner, this is exactly what happened. 

A Brea homeowner noticed that there was a slab leak in his home, and he attempted to soak up the water with a towel.  The leak began in his hallway and quickly flooded the surrounding rooms as well.  He knew the leak needed to be fixed but did not immediately think that mold could be growing in his home due to the leak. 

His elderly father-in-law lives in the home with him, and his health was a major concern for our customer.  Ensuring his health was not compromised due to the mold growth in his home was a priority.  Soon there was visible mold and mildew growing in the bedroom, closet, and bathroom from the floodwater that had travelled from the hallway.  At this point, the homeowner knew he needed the professionals at SERVPRO to remove the mold in his home.

The leak had caused water stains on the baseboards and drywall, and they had become warped with water damage.  Upon removal, there was visible green, fuzzy, and black mold growing behind the baseboards and drywall.  Mold growth is very unhealthy for anyone living in the home, but our client’s elderly father-in-law was particularly at risk of developing allergy-like symptoms with potential serious complications.  In order to completely remove the mold and moisture to prevent more mold from growing, all surfaces were cleaned and disinfected.  A specialty air scrubbing tubing was placed in all of the affected rooms in order to restore the air quality as well. 

Because our customer did not know where to start when having his home restored after the mold growth, our knowledgeable and friendly estimator, Edgar Arcila, walked him through the process.  Edgar guided him through the steps from filing a claim and describing exactly what was needed to restore his home to normal after the water damage and mold remediation, and restore the air quality to a safe environment.  The customer was extremely appreciative of Edgar’s professionalism and helpfulness in getting him through this difficult situation.  He is now living peacefully knowing his father-in-law and family are breathing in a clean home.
