Slab Leak Ruins Yorba Linda Home

12/29/2015 (Permalink)

Slab leaks are a quiet, home-ruining leak. Unlike pipe bursts, which can be loud and the rush of water might be heard around the house, many slab leaks are slow and quiet. Often times you don’t even notice them until they’ve already made their way through four or five rooms in your home. It will start when you notice something small, like that your hardwood floors are wet or your carpet is saturated. But when you call in a water damage company like SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea, you find that the damage is working its way through the entire home! What do you do in this situation? Sit back and let SERVPRO take care of it.

A homeowner in Yorba Linda recently found that the tile in her dining room was always covered in water. She was unsure why, so she called her plumber to take a look at the pipes. He found that there indeed was a slab leak under her dining room and it was spreading fast. He knew that in order to get the water damage removed and make room for the re-piping he would have to do that the homeowner would need a water damage removal company like SERVPRO of Yorba Linda/Brea.

The call came through and we immediately dispatched our experienced Project Manager, Cesar Arcila. He arrived at the home and performed his initial inspection. He found that the dining room, kitchen and hallway had all been affected by the slab leak and there would definitely have to be some removal. He set up a containment area and called our Crew Chief, Edwin Ramirez, to the home to lead our talented technicians in the cleanup.

As soon as our technicians arrived, they got to work. They first performed a test for asbestos, which came back positive, so we had to perform an asbestos abatement. From there, we removed some of the tile so the plumber could get in and re-route the pipes. And finally, we placed drying equipment to rid the affected areas of any lingering moisture.

The homeowner was so happy with our work! Though disappointed her tile had to be removed, she understood that it was for the safety of her home. She gave us a great review on our final surveys and told us she’d be calling again in the future!
